Keys Team - Day 4
Day Four was a day that provided our Florida Kets Team with an
opportunity to wrap up work on existing projects, to show grace to homeowners
by adapting to changing circumstances and to assist with unexpected projects.
One crew continued its efforts to prime and paint the
interior of a house that sustained significant interior damage during hurricane
Irma. The team was able to complete some of the interior painting and to get
the home setup so others could come to the house and complete the remainder of
the priming and painting that the house required.
A second crew assisted with the installation of cabinets on
a house that had a tight deadline. The crew was able to complete the
installation of the cabinets in time. In addition, the crew was also asked to
provide assistance to another homeowner on a project to repair steps in their
hurricane-damaged house. Upon inspection of the work site, the crew provided
the homeowner with a list of materials required to complete the work and also provided
detailed instructions for what needed to be done to finish the stairs. The
materials requirement listing is provided to Florida United Methodist Disaster
Recovery to acquire and supply to the homeowner.
Praise the Lord! After four days of work, a third crew
completed its electrical work on all of the light switches in the house it had
been working on! The crew also completed its efforts to install kitchen
furniture. As this crew served in this same house most of the week, they were provided
with several opportunities to show grace to the homeowner who periodically
changed the “plan” without notice. The crew willingly adapted to these changes and
went above what was initially required for the job to help the homeowner
prepare the house for other contractors to perform work in the house. Most
importantly, the homeowner came to trust the crew over the course of this week
and so, was open to discuss the gospel and to pray together before this crew
left on our last day in his house.
