Keys Team - Day 3


The Lord blessed the team with the opportunity to participate in three disaster recovery projects today! 

One crew started a new project on a different house that is still trying to recover from hurricane Irma. The crew painted interior rooms of the house, as well as parts of the exterior of the house. 




Another crew continued its efforts to assist a homeowner with various projects to bring the house near to completion like priming and painting interior doors of the house and some cabinets, electrical wiring within bedrooms and hallway closets, electrical wiring in lighting fixtures, and installing cabinets and their hardware within the kitchen area. 





Praise the Lord! The third crew finished the porch deck! Today a ramp up to the porch deck was added along with hand railing around the entire deck, which was considered necessary so the homeowner and her dogs could enjoy the deck for a long time. The homeowner was very pleased with the finished deck and looks forward to enjoying it with her family and her dogs.


The Lord continues to bless our first FBA team to serve in the Florida Keys! As we have worked on two homes in particular this week, the Lord has given us opportunities to have gospel conversations with the homeowners. Now that we have come to know some of those we have served, we will continue to pray for them in the days ahead.

Please continue to pray for the safety and well-being of our team members and that God will continue to open our eyes to the work He wants us to complete and to continue to give us the strength and focus to complete the work during our remaining time in the Florida Keys.

Hurricane Irma made landfall in the Florida Keys on Sunday morning, September 10, 2017, as a Category 4 storm, bringing powerful winds of up to 130 mph, rain and flooding. Keys Team - Final Post - Thank You!

On Saturday evening, we PTL that our FBA Florida Keys Mission Team arrived safely back to Georgia after a wonderful week serving the Lord in the Keys! The trip was considered a success from the fact that God provided the team with the wisdom and strength to accomplish a number of projects that helped to achieve the following results: A very friendly elderly woman that some of the team developed a relationship with now has a new porch deck that she will be able to use even in the event that she is forced to use a wheelchair. A couple of the team members also cleaned her house while they were waiting for things to do to help with the porch deck. The elderly woman’s dogs are also able to enjoy the new porch deck with her as they no longer have to go up and down steps. A volunteer firefighter whose house had its roof ripped off was provided with a materials list and detailed instructions for how to complete the work so he could finally finish the restoration work two years aft...

Thank you for your continued support for our Florida Keys Mission Team as we continue to trust the Lord with the plans that He has for our time in the Keys the first week of December.  The Florida United Methodist Disaster Response Team will be providing further details on the exact projects our team will be assisting them with during our mission trip around the beginning of December. As we continue to prepare for our team’s departure to the Florida Keys, God has graciously provided sufficient funds to send the entire team on the trip. God has even provided funds in excess of the total fundraising goal for the trip! While additional fundraising to support the mission team is no longer required, any additional funds raised will be used to support the ongoing work in the Keys.  We ask for your continued prayer support for our mission team as we prepare to go.
