Seven Mile Bridge

Each day, we will drive from Marathon Key where we are staying at Kirk of the Keys Presbyterian Church to Big Pine Key where most of our work projects are located.

On the  way, we get to cross a very long bridge...called "Seven Mile Bridge." And yes, it is seven miles long!

Day Four was a day that provided our Florida Kets Team with an opportunity to wrap up work on existing projects, to show grace to homeowners by adapting to changing circumstances and to assist with unexpected projects.  One crew continued its efforts to prime and paint the interior of a house that sustained significant interior damage during hurricane Irma. The team was able to complete some of the interior painting and to get the home setup so others could come to the house and complete the remainder of the priming and painting that the house required.   A second crew assisted with the installation of cabinets on a house that had a tight deadline. The crew was able to complete the installation of the cabinets in time. In addition, the crew was also asked to provide assistance to another homeowner on a project to repair steps in their hurricane-damaged house. Keys Team - Day 2

Today, the second day of our mission trip, the Lord blessed the team with the opportunity to participate in three disaster recovery projects.  One crew continued the team’s efforts to provide assistance with the sanding and finishing of drywall for a house that had to replace the drywall due to hurricane damage. Another crew had the opportunity to assist with efforts to complete the punch list for a house that is close to being fully restored from the damage sustained during hurricane Irma. The crew installed cabinets, attached door poles to cabinets, and worked on electrical wiring by installing switches and outlets.      A third crew continued its efforts from the first day and was able to substantially complete its efforts to construct a new deck for the homeowner. Keys Team - Day 3

The Lord blessed the team with the opportunity to participate in three disaster recovery projects today!  One crew started a new project on a different house that is still trying to recover from hurricane Irma. The crew painted interior rooms of the house, as well as parts of the exterior of the house.  Another crew continued its efforts to assist a homeowner with various projects to bring the house near to completion like priming and painting interior doors of the house and some cabinets, electrical wiring within bedrooms and hallway closets, electrical wiring in lighting fixtures, and installing cabinets and their hardware within the kitchen area.  Praise the Lord! The third crew finished the porch deck! Today a ramp up to the porch deck was added along with hand railing around the entire deck, which was considered necessary so the homeowner and her dogs could enjoy the deck for a long time.
