Wildlife in the Keys

We have had some surprise guests come around our work projects and at the church where we are staying. Just wanted to share these with you...


 We see these guys everyday! There are not too many of these in Atlanta, except at the Zoo, maybe!

In this second photo are "Key Deer" who have a native habitat on Big Pine Key.

Hurricane Irma made landfall in the Florida Keys on Sunday morning, September 10, 2017, as a Category 4 storm, bringing powerful winds of up to 130 mph, rain and flooding. Wind gusts of 120 mph were noted in Big Pine Key and a storm surge of up to 10 feet was recorded.  Our team will be involved with home reconstruction efforts in any way we can, (replacing drywall, painting, installing flooring, etc.). Keys Team - Final Post - Thank You!

On Saturday evening, we PTL that our FBA Florida Keys Mission Team arrived safely back to Georgia after a wonderful week serving the Lord in the Keys! The trip was considered a success from the fact that God provided the team with the wisdom and strength to accomplish a number of projects that helped to achieve the following results: A very friendly elderly woman that some of the team developed a relationship with now has a new porch deck that she will be able to use even in the event that she is forced to use a wheelchair. A couple of the team members also cleaned her house while they were waiting for things to do to help with the porch deck. The elderly woman’s dogs are also able to enjoy the new porch deck with her as they no longer have to go up and down steps. A volunteer firefighter whose house had its roof ripped off was provided with a materials list and detailed instructions for how to complete the work so he could finally finish the restoration work two years aft...

Thank you for your continued support for our Florida Keys Mission Team as we continue to trust the Lord with the plans that He has for our time in the Keys the first week of December.  The Florida United Methodist Disaster Response Team will be providing further details on the exact projects our team will be assisting them with during our mission trip around the beginning of December. As we continue to prepare for our team’s departure to the Florida Keys, God has graciously provided sufficient funds to send the entire team on the trip. God has even provided funds in excess of the total fundraising goal for the trip! While additional fundraising to support the mission team is no longer required, any additional funds raised will be used to support the ongoing work in the Keys.  We ask for your continued prayer support for our mission team as we prepare to go.
